Karla Valenzuela
Hello! My name is Karla Valenzuela and I am currently a junior majoring in human biology. I live in South Bend, Indiana, but I am originally from Dallas, Texas. I am a pre-med student with an interest in cardiology. I am interested in global health and would like to work with underserved communities in the future. I enjoy volunteering, reading, watching films, and attending cultural events on campus. This is my second year as a peer mentor, and I look forward to working with more students, as well as my fellow mentors. As a first-generation college student and a first-generation American, I want to help students with similar backgrounds in their transition to college. I hope to share my experiences with you and provide you with resources to ensure that you have a successful year at Indiana University. I have learned so much during my undergraduate studies and am more than willing to get to know you and help you in any way I can. Being a peer mentor last year was extremely rewarding, and I cannot wait to work with more students!
